Horses lose electrolytes through normal bodily functions like sweating, so it is advisable to supplement your horse’s diet with electrolytes (including sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, and magnesium), especially if they are in work.

The protective fat coating prevents the salty taste, reducing the need for additional sugar.

It also makes it kinder to the stomach, and helps ensure they reach the small intestine for absorption.
